Death Nears Poem by Ray Lucero

Death Nears

Rating: 5.0

Death nears;
What you thought you
needed loses importance

Why shiver and focus on a dark
quivering hand?

Rather than the golden chalice
you hold and the toast being
proposed to new possibilities

In the same way love enters your life
The “I” (ego) a corrupt, self-absorbed
tyrant king that dies during the night

Let him go…

Breathe in new air
Freedom awaits you
Let everything go
Be still
Quiet

Die that you may live
