Dear Diva, You Make Me Feel Like I'm In Heaven Poem by Hebert Logerie

Dear Diva, You Make Me Feel Like I'm In Heaven

Every time I hear one of your songs, I feel good
I really feel good. You put me in the mood
To think, to love, to relax, to write and to dream
You make me feel that I am in a special place
Enjoying a great afternoon with a cup of ice cream
In my hand. You put me up there, somewhere in space
You are such a natural and phenomenal woman
The poet Maya Angelou would have been proud of you
It has been decades since I have been hearing you
Your singing voice. You remain a rose that any man
Would love to possess, a sparkle, a sweet sunshine
Which remain in my heart for a long, long, long time
You're the Queen of my Soul. That would be a crime
If I hadn't put my thoughts on paper. You're not a friend of mine
But I admire you since (in my head)you are indispensable to me
I am so sorry to see you leaving so soon. However, I am happy
That you had a great life. I am sorry that you had suffered
A lot while you were sick. I am sorry that you left Singing Bird
God, with his orchestra, is waiting for you on the other side
Of the sky. Hence, you'll be singing throughout the holy ride
You'll be sorely missed. Aretha, let me sing and drink my blues
I wish you and I could have a duet. Dear Diva, let me sing my blues
You'll be remembered forever. You're flying deep in my heart
You're the Queen of Jazz and Soul. You departed, but you remain a part
Of me.When I do a flashback on a Sunday morning, the smile of your sparkle
Will shine in my heart. It will be like a dream, le meilleur rêve, like the gospel.

P.S. I am very happy to dedicate this poem to the Queen of Jazz and Soul, Ms. Aretha Franklin who left us today, August 16,2018. She will sorely be missed.
