Crystal Heart Poem by Alex McCullough

Crystal Heart

I couldn't keep the truth out of my eyes,
Even though I knew it'd lead me to this other future,
A closed heart having become blind,
With a machine inside.....telling it how to feel.
Where are the words you left behind,
Which swept me off into that world of yours,
Calculators can't keep track of all the times,
Though no matter the number, I can't lose a single one.
Together our bond once made the night and stars,
Look so dull compared to radiance of that inside,
I awoke many times......to the sounds our hearts played,
But now where has it gone?
Bursting forth from the framework of this memory,
I don't know what's gotten into me,
I reach ahead, then let go, just to feel again,
That genuine touch you could only make possible.
Call it a myth of the past,
I just know right now.......it's all because I love you!
