Countless Nights Poem by Alex McCullough

Countless Nights

I've run for countless days,
From the shadow that lurks beyond me,
Before it becomes fully cast.
Howling like a lost moon,
It's cries shine throughout my dreams,
Spreading through me,
Until I'm completely submerged.
A mystical scent,
I've smelled roaming through the night,
Continues to scream out,
Waiting for the day when it will be found.
Wandering across this landscape,
Without a destination in mind,
Having only the night carry us to the voice.
The world continues to tremble,
From the thought of us finding the truth,
That it's tried so hard to cover away.
I know we're not dreaming anymore,
Because we haven't found you yet,
But our hearts keep sleeping,
Awaking only when you're with us again.
