Cry Haiti Cry Poem by Lawerence Mize, Sr.

Cry Haiti Cry

Thousands died
from the quake
Rubble and debris
left in its wake

People huddle
alone in their tents
Afraid for tomorrow
their emotions spent

When night has come
people scream
Hope's all gone
no time to dream

The world has forgotten
poor Haiti's plight
Abandoned its people
It doesn't seem right

From Port au Prince
with all its rubble
To Les Cayes Prison
with all its troubles

The water is foul
in the Artibonite River
Cholera the threat
death it will deliver

So Cry Haiti Cry
Show the world your tears
You've nothing to lose
everything to fear

The storms will come
from Heaven and Hell
Your story...not over
there's plenty to tell
