Confrontational Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Confrontational

Beginnings to have begun,
Competitive and confrontational.
Should not have anyone assume,
Created rivalries are expected...
To express the best,
Of good sportsmanship.
When they are more familiar,
With a receiving of accolades.
After proving who is better,
At destroying the other.
Done to get approval from...
The ones witnessing and wishing,
A battle to begin...
Has for them must end with a win.
Regardless who began the confrontation.
Or whatever the relationship,
Between them.
As long as a victory,
Has been won to declare it.
And confetti prepared to throw,
On the heads of those...
To parade around as true heros!

"Does anyone know,
Who the heros are or their names? "

-There you go.
Always seeking details.
'WE' won did we not?
What difference would it make,
If we heard their names...
Right now announced.
To forget who they are.
But years from now,
Remember the 'win'.
And the high price we paid,
For the refreshments to complain about.-

"Tell me about it.
And the cost of the souvenirs? "

-Outrageous! -

"You can say that again."

-Outrageous.-
