Cleaning My Bedroom Poem by Thomas Bates

Cleaning My Bedroom

I try day and day again
to simply keep my room together-
uncluttered.
a losing fight,
collecting my belongings
within the walls of this little room.

it gets close to organized
and then I fail again to arrange, my possessions in
a good atmosphere of order and design.
but this is temporary, like lovers parting
and soon my room too will fade away.

(slip away?)

the state of a mind
and the regrouping of the repair
of a man's
life.

priorities sometimes put as last, yet temporarily
into their proper places.
it's easy to fail when you're expected to fail.
the thing one needs most
is simply the trust
that we have in ourselves.
