Relationships. Poem by Thomas Bates

Relationships.

relationship
or
sinking
ship?
two bodies are charged so with longing - a sexual revolution
sure to bring either
relief, disappointment, frustration or
Love.

I look at these snap shots
of my face,
captured ridiculous
(or solemn) moments
accidental planned car wrecks
and recorded spiritual
eventual
all-time overwhelming crashes.
it's better to be amped on caffeine
than in a state
of general apathy.

...I
wish
I could find someone...but
the internet isn't my place
to find myself a date.
I tried that once,
got drunk at the bar
and - earlier than expected - she
took me home.
so what do I have to offer a woman
as far as relationship potential,
a woman
who isn't
shallow-minded
or fishing for the luxury of $$$?

the answer:

I don't have anything to prove,

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
wrote this one in WA state. the air was crisp and I was in a sarcastic mood, of sorts - the poem's supposed to be a little funny. not sure if I succeeded in that, but at least I tried. :)
