Childfree Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Childfree

Childfree

1.
“The child in, your house, arm, ”
The man said: “Is my boss and master; we must care.”

Her jaws fell: “Who is he, why says so? ”
She had gone to make sure dining was permitted with her child.

“What you know of my child? ” she questioned with wonder.
For short time she thought of Baptist John, and Jesus.

“You and I, my lady, ” said the man: “will soon be retired, out of race.
A young child, can be yours; can be mine, will take on leadership to us all.”

Woman thought with some rings around eyes and tears, fell, dropped:
“Child free wants own fun…” started but stopped when man said:
“They too will retire, unless die.”

2.
“You Mr. and madam…” said young man to elders, making fun.
They at him, full of need.

Girlfriend, holding hands: “who are you, what is this? ”

“I know them, the racists and sexists, they saved not for such days;
This is what they deserve.”

“Now you act as they did, as you say.” said the girl.

“In fact I, know them well, they laughed at my mother for the child.
They claimed…”

The girl cut: “Regardless…”

“The child is pain in ass…wanted joys and no more. I cried for my food.
They blamed my mother…”

“Drop dead…” said the girl.

“I hate this but have to remind them…”

Young couple raced forward took their hands.
