Chasing Shadows Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

Chasing Shadows

Shadows laugh
Twirling in the spotlight
Of memories when
We were in love.
I chase those shadows
Then turn and run...yet
They follow me, teasing
My heart,
Filling my head with
Thoughts of
Your kisses, your caresses...
Your promises.
Chasing shadows of love
Turned up-side-down.
Wish I could blame it
On our youth, but
We were old enough to know
Better.

This a fabulous simple, yet meaningful poem. And I have wrote about similar feelings. Glad I'm not the only that feels that way at times. Thanks for it.
