Changes Attempted To Prevent Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Changes Attempted To Prevent

More difficult it is.
As time passes.
With eyes left opened wide,
To a future that comes.
Approaching to do,
Without anyone's approval.

More difficult it is.
To prepare for changes.
Needing to quickly make.
Knowing more than just a few,
Would rather stay the way they choose.
Unmoved.
Claiming it unnecessary,
For changes needed to quickly do.

More difficult it is and gets.
Arguing over which changes to resist.
As to not offend,
Ancestors long gone.
Who would censor and pick,
Which changes were more suitable.
To continue to allow,
Their pretentiousness.
And which among those changes,
They could prevent...
The future generations,
From rebelling against.
With this to forever do,
As time passes.
Although done from beyond the grave.
