Catch Of The Day Poem by Bill Cantrell

Looking for a different poem,
Taking me to new dimensions
I want to leap off the edge of midnight,
Into a dawn of new waters,
Yes, that of another's dream
I know very well, there are hidden doors of poetry,
Corridors leading to tombs of treasured thoughts
In a vision,
I cast a huge net in a sea of dreams,
Hanging my catch in the sun to dry
I viewed poetry unfolding right alongside the path of time
With the wake of anything goes
I witnessed the degrading love of fellow man washed away
As the sun casts its bitter heat in displeasure
Yet, every dream has worth
The salt of the earth is poetry,
And the ocean is saturated with rhythm, rhyme
And meter so deep
It is there for the taking,
Yet not all can swim,
For not all are of our kind,
But they can learn to walk the shallows,
At the outskirts where tides turn back
For the smell of salt in the air is intoxicating,
And it's taste is addictive,
In a most pleasurable way
Once the feet get wet,
There is no turning back
They bring their dreams with them,
And we partake
Yes, we leap into new waters,
And the ocean becomes ever deeper

For new waters await all those fishing dreams,
As the sun is ever eager to dry our catch
