Burned Poem by Destry Drew Miller

Burned

I never realized how alone I was
How cold and bleak and empty I felt
I thought 'This is life
This is the hand I've been dealt'

When I met you I didn't know
That one look would be a spark
That you would light up my world
And bring me out the dark

That one spark would grow into a flame
And that flame would grow into a blaze
And that's when I knew
With you I'd spend the rest of my days

It never felt so good to taste the flames
it never felt so right to be burned alive
i've never felt better then after being set on fire
in this inferno I'd rather no one else at my side

And when we grow old
And when we grow tired
Hand in hand we will lay
Upon our funeral pyre
