Born Into This Life Poem by Edwina Reizer

Born Into This Life

Born a babe into this life,
born without a care
I took a breath, a short little one
and filled my lungs with air.

I felt my heart begin to beat.
I knew not where I was.
And so my journey here began
and my heart did what it does.

It filled with love and instantly knew
it had a job to do.
And through the journey of my years
it helped me as I grew.

And so I met my life head on
and held on tight to love.
For somehow I sensed that in this life
to love is far and above

all other things that life can bestow.
The rest can never compare.
I do not wrestle with the life I’ve had
and I treat my heart with care.

When this life of mine is through
and I take my final breath
may it be with happy heart that I leave
and face unafraid my death.
