Bonds And Boundaries Poem by David Harris

Bonds And Boundaries

Rating: 5.0

Two strangers meet becoming friends.
Time and circumstances part them.
Many years later again they meet
and the bond of friendship
ignites itself again within them.
Again and again they meet mainly by accident.
The bond for each other gets stronger and stronger.
They feel themselves drawn to one another,
the longer and more frequent they see each other.
The bond of friendship grows into a bond of love.
They begin to feel more content whenever they meet.
Their emotions grow more intense and they grow
from hugs and kisses getting near a boundary
they should never cross.
It's a story we see all around us every day.
Sadly some do cross that boundary
and their lives change forever.
Sometimes with disastrous consequences,
others hold themselves in check
always wanting to escape
the boundaries they have set.

Often one crossing is one too many. This is a well thought out piece and I enjoyed it very much. On the whole I have kept within the boundaries but sometimes it needs a lot of self control. Just read your poem of the day. Liked it a lot. Might as well put this one among my favourites. It's a good poem for reflection.

I love this poem, full of wisdom. Bonds and boundaries, so true and so important. Impulsive breaks of boundaries often indeed a recipe for disaster.
