Birthday Wish Poem by Michelle Asswit

Birthday Wish

'Blow out the candles and make a wish'
Is what I'd hear when I think of big fish
Because of all the desires I hoped would be fulfilled
The one's that came true didn't help me deal
With the miscellanious problems I was going through
A birthday's good for a moment or two
But why waste time on a certain day
To remind yourself that soon it will all go away
I could have been working for my dreams
Not the clothes on my back
Which were actually presents
From people I thought were six feet under
How embarrasing that I didn't know about my grandmother
