Big Bear Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Big Bear

Big Bear

Big-Bear was short, small
Had vision, was smart.

Enemy could not see
Since the foe is blind!

While hero was lord of
Prairies and teepees
He excelled in hunting.

To him moose, buffalo
And the bear or a wolf
Were same as a rabbit…

As leader was good lead
To find paths, hide or seek.

Could foresee with logic;
Perfect was in speech.

Fell prey to bad fox
And vultures of skies
Crossing: "Father, God."

The Godless in God's name
Came in peace and landed
Then revealed what was the
Way of leech with no shame!

Same became right and wrong
Lies were penned, Truth died.

History was written
With venom of snake:
"Frog Lake Massacre! "

They whitewashed injustice
And women's and girls' rape.

Though blamed was savage
Sins were of White, Europe's!
