Beauty Poem by Matthew McDougal

Beauty

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
But the eye cannot see what is within the heart.
True beauty comes from deep inside,
It is not shape or skin or color,
It is not the glamour or the glitter,
That makes a person beautiful.
It is what we do for others,
When we care and share for others,
Only then is our true beauty is exposed.
We aspire to do great things in our lifetimes,
But if we don't take the time to appreciate what we have,
To enjoy the life we are living,
To take in the beauty of those around us,
And the majesty of the world we live in,
We have wasted our chance.
If we take time to really feel all that surrounds us,
To cherish the warmth and love from another's heart,
Then we have truly lived,
And we can appreciate the beauty of the world.
