Accept Poem by Matthew McDougal

Accept

It's an easy thing to say,
Accept who you are,
But saying and doing are two different things,
So many try to be someone they are not,
Or hide behind fancy clothes or makeup,
They go through their lives pretending,
In a make believe world,
Whether it's inside a game,
Or buried in the media extravaganza,
They are not really living,
It is merely an existence,
The world we have is an amazing place,
With so much to see and do,
We can feel and touch and smell,
Everything around us has a natural beauty,
It's a simple thing really,
We only need to take the time,
To really stop, and appreciate what we have.
