Asocial Media Poem by Nika McGuin

Asocial Media

Rating: 5.0

I hate texting,
dating apps,
and social media.
I hate what they've done to us.

The world's romantics are dying
and taking their love stories
to the grave with them.
"I met him at a cafe."
or "in the check-out line, "
has turned into "we met
on Tinder" or "on Facebook."

We barely even speak
in public anymore.
When I have so many "friends"
, what for?

And we wonder why
reports of social anxiety keep increasing?
There are more shut-ins today
than there ever were in the history of the world.

This so-called
"social" media
is in reality,
making us
asocial.
