Ashes Poem by Robert Mahoney

Ashes

Ashes

Ashes, Ashes
Falling down
From a sick brown sky
As the smoke climbs ever higher
And the sun turns red
As the world turns black

Ashes, Ashes
Coat the ground
With a gray-white veil
As our hope is set on fire
And the sun burns red
As our hearts turn black

Ashes to Ashes it all burns down
Nothing left but heartache and pain
Ashes to Ashes our world burns down
No future when your whole world's in flames
Ashes to Ashes we're all doomed now
There's no place to run from the burning rain

Ashes to Ashes we all turn to dust
Burning faster and faster until there's nothing left
And we all feel the flames licking at our hearts
As our very existence and all that we live for is consumed

Ashes to Ashes it all burns down
Nothing left but heartache and pain
Ashes to Ashes our world burns dow
No future when your whole world's in flames
Ashes to Ashes we're all doomed now
There's no place to run from the burning rain

Ashes, Ashes
We all burn
Down
