Ashamed Of Me Poem by Randy McClave

Ashamed Of Me

Rating: 4.0

She wasn't ashamed of her brother
Or of his male lover,
She didn't care that her daughter was gay
Or that her ex husband did stray.
She wasn't ashamed to keep a secret from all
As long as someone else did suffer and fall,
She didn't care when she smoked pot
Or even when she got caught.
She wasn't ashamed when others saw her drunk or high
Or how she enjoyed to cheat and lie,
She didn't care if others paid her bills
Or about her psychiatrists, or her pills.
She wasn't ashamed about her uncaring boyfriend
Even though on him she couldn't depend,
She didn't care about her boyfriend's ex-wife
Even with she created worries and strife.
She wasn't ashamed about not going to church
Or how she judged people from a perch,
She didn't care to always sleep
Especially when she caused others to stress and weep.
She wasn't ashamed to tag people in a post
As though she was their host,
She didn't care if she didn't know them
Whether at Church, or by someone else, or at a gym.
She wasn't ashamed of her uncaring mother
Or how that her mom never gave her a druther,
She didn't care to continuously hide the truth
So, that her children wouldn't become a sleuth.
She wasn't ashamed of the color of any man's skin
Or how she enjoyed to sin,
She wasn't embarrassed of her past or her friends history;
But, she was always ashamed of me.
