As The Sun Does Down Again Poem by Dipy Hermonite

As The Sun Does Down Again

As the sun goes down again
on yet another day,
Has a decade passed us by?
Is that what they say?
When was it the last that we
saw our red sun rise?
or see it shyly set itself,
in the orange sky?
When was it we let our gaze
veer and look up high?
Wonder at the heavens up,
ask the question ‘why'?
We've missed out on the chirping birds,
And bashful brooks that sing,
Did we play our dogs at all?
And let them do their things?
Ten years it seems have passed us by,
For a minute were we still?
Have we lived a hamster's life?
Spot-running on treadmills?

When the new day breaks again
at the dong of morn,
Let's shed the ploughs right off our backs
And let the bullocks roam
The Sun will rise - send warm new rays,
And bring in joy and cheer,
May the good Lord bless our world,
Wish you a Happy Year!
