Anodyne Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

Anodyne

He brought her
Roses everyday
Sat beside her
To talk and pray
Brushed her hair
And on her cheek, a kiss
Held her hand
True love is this
She did not know him
Not anymore
The one she used to adore
But it did not matter
He loves her still
Though the Alzheimer
Threatened to kill
Her knowing and all
She does not know him,
But he knows
Who she is.
