Ang Locket ni Inay

Ang locket ni Inay, ginto't kumikinang
Ay aking kinuha sa kanyang lagayan
Ito'y nilagyan ko ng litrato ni 'sweet'
At sa aking leeg, agad isinabit

Ang aking kwintas ay nakita ni mahal
At ang kanyang tanong, 'Saan ba galing 'yan? ?
Yan ba'y binili mo o merong nagbigay? '
''Di ko 'to binili, bigay 'to ni Inay.
At ang litrato mo'y dito daw ilagay
Sagisag ng tunay ko na pagmamahal.'

'Ay ang ganda naman, puwede bang makita? '
'Aba'y puwedeng-puwede, siyempre, mahal kita.'

Nakita ni mahal ang kanyang larawan
At kilig na kilig, ako'y hinalikan
Kasabay ang sabing 'Ay! Ang sweet mo naman! '

Ngitngit ni Bathala, locket, nabitawan
Bumagsak at ang lihim ko'y sumamburay
Litrato sa locket pala'y tatlong suson
Siyempre ang kay mahal sa ibabaw nar'on
Dahil siya ang aking kaharap ko noon

'Imbi! Palamara! Sukab! Talipandas! '
Ang sabi ni mahal, mata'y nagniningas
'De locket-locket pa ay three-timer naman!
Puso nama'y taksil pa at salawahan! '

'Isa kang hunyango, nag-iibang-kulay
Kung sino'ng kaharap ay siyang minamahal! '
'Mahal, patawad na, ako'y nagsisisi
Sa aking ginawang sa 'yo'y pang-oonse.'

'Eto ang sa iyo! ' (PAK) 'Naku po! Aray! '
Yan ang kasaysayan ng locket ni Inay.
At malaking bukol, nasa aking ulo
Na dahil sa locket at pagka-chickboy ko
'Aruy! Aruy! Aruy! ' ay aking natamo

Poem of the Day

poet Wilfred Owen

All sounds have been as music to my listening:
Pacific lamentations of slow bells,
The crunch of boots on blue snow rosy-glistening,
Shuffle of autumn leaves; and all farewells:
