And These Stars Brighter Than All We Know Poem by Shalom Freedman

And These Stars Brighter Than All We Know

And these stars brighter than all we know
Too dwell within great darknesses
And they too will one day come to no longer be themselves
And so even the symbols of the greatest brightness we dream
Will not and cannot escape
The long blackness now and in- between and forever
Light light might be our goal and dream
But dark dark is what we ultimately seem.
