Anatomy Of Divorce Poem by mark glaser

Anatomy Of Divorce

Anatomy of Divorce
I like to watch the birds,
As they dart to feed,
It’s so much like you and me.

Come along the sparrow and chickadee,
From underneath the morning dove picks at the seed,
This too is a little like you me.

The birds seem happy,
To do as they do,
It’s much like me and you.

Everything seemed alright,
When you sat at the table right in my site,
And uttered that resounding source,
I want a divorce.

Where did this come from?
Was there an indication from someone?
None that I could see,
From either you or me.

But there it appeared,
All this was extremely sad.
Is there someone else involved?
That came between you and me.

Apparently now looking about,
It now made sense all those everything’s,
That were right there I didn’t see.
What happened to you and me?

It wasn’t enough there wasn’t any financial strain,
Money in the bank and a beautiful and loving family,
That divorce be an alternative to a wonderful life,
Change because bored let ruin what we had.
It all made no sense it was sad.

But proceed you did destroying what was there,
You assumed another life not be as bad.

In its wake you left shutters,
Everything finally made sense.
For me came another life better than the old.
The decision it seems helped me more than you.
And what you did to you I never would have done,
You left your carcass to bake in the sun.
