Parrot And The Carrot Poem by mark glaser

Parrot And The Carrot

There is a story about a carrot and a parrot,
Hidden are agendas of each.
That takes place,
Is a struggle of wills?

Will parrot powerful as he be,
Make the carrot part of what it sees.

The parrot flew and twisted its way,
At home with no one to say,
Only fly carefully is a must,
This is what I trust.

On this day the reward was fine,
It plainly was a sign,
That fly as it did,
It was fine with its owner Sid.

The parrot always felt empowered you see,
To do as pleased,
Swoop and swirl,
Before Sid the Earl.

Lighted upon the perch,
It found in it food search,
A big luscious orange carrot,
The bird’s eyes grew big as it went to shear it.

The carrot spoke don’t do this,
The parrot replied with a hiss,
I’ll eat you if I want don’t be sour,
Sid put you here for me to devour.

But the carrot pleaded I have many more days,
To enjoy the sun and watch you play,
I am not interest in your the personality,
I am interest in eating not making solidarity.

We could be such a good team,
The parrot didn’t seem,
To be impressed, I’ll put you in my torso,
I’ll eat you right now and devour every morsel.

Don’t do this right now it’s not right for you or me,
The parrot couldn’t accept any argument you see.
It quickly went to bit it,
And in its excitement eyeing his search,
Forgot its balance and tumbled from its perch.

Sid turned his head to watch the mishap,
Picked up the bird perhaps,
To see it was injured at this stage,
He decided to put the parrot in its cage.
There the parrot stayed,
Until the long delay,
Was over and the bird released,
To find the carrot landed planted.
