An Instant Relationship Poem by Alexander Foald

An Instant Relationship

As our eyes meet in an instant, walking through the distance
Our lips fall into silence; no word can make it of any sense
But we must feel the same thing, or this might only a coincidence
Something tells me to make a move, or I’ll lose the chance

And then the day turns to night, time already leap as we passing by
And I talk to myself, “Do you have anything to remember me by? ”
And as the lights go off, I turn myself around and start running back
Hoping that you’re still somewhere near, maybe waiting for my call

I’m running downstairs, chasing my breath before it’s taken away too far
Looking everywhere randomly, I found you trying to pick up a car
Almost die from exhausting, I force myself to run as fast as I can
Only to find that I was wrong; you were waiting for someone

The man hugs you before these eyes, staring at you in a shade of light
I barely stand up on my feet as you ride on the car and close the door tight
I can hear the night sing an ode for my epic struggle to make things right
For all I knew, I just realized how much truth can hurt someone’s heart
