An Imaginary Trick Of The Mind Poem by Mark Heathcote

An Imaginary Trick Of The Mind

I am only a shadow of light
a syrupy dewdrop waiting to fall
suspended for a moment;
a rainbow on its journey
where two ends never meet
but if you blink, there are no loose ends at all.
There never was a rainbow
it was all an imaginary trick of the mind.
Trying its best to fathom light-years on
one thought following another
since the dawning of time, anon - anon - anon.
