An Angel Tonight Poem by Austin Jones

An Angel Tonight

Rating: 3.5

An Angel tonight is crying
for without fail
his liege is wrong
left alone and dying
For his tears hail
upon the ground
this Angel's child
tonight
and last
and years before
An Angel tonight is crying
A love who won't
a child in pain
for his charge
An Angel tonight is crying
The stars drop from this Angel's face
and set themselves above
for the boy-man
who's struggling much
this Angel tonight is crying
gone this boy-man's hopes be
for love
or a remedy
And because his future be
blank as the void above
the boy-man tonight is crying
His tallies on himself in red
count his dreams that left
count the pains his hopes have left
count the nights till dying
And for this boy-man tonight
An Angel is crying
As the boy-man finally comes to peace
the knife drawn 'cross his wrists
the life pooling 'round
the Angel that night is crying
As his tears fall
the last drops drain
from the boy-man's heart
hopes and dreams lost again
An Angel tonight is crying
