Already Betrayed Poem by Randy McClave

Already Betrayed

Before I had a thought
That I had sought,
That was already in the air
Unto which upon her I did stare.
Before she said that we were two
And before she said, "I love you",
Before that night that she came over
So, she could cry upon my shoulder.
Before we took our seat
When I took her out to eat,
Before we ever ordered our food
She was already in a happy, jubilant mood.
Before she told me now that she was a "Miss"
And before she gave me a kiss,
Before I held onto her hand
And before the next move was planned.
Before she told me that she was a mother
Before she told me of her other lover,
And before she did undress
And before her desires she did confess.
Before she went to my bed
And before we laid down our head,
And before that night I had prayed;
I was already betrayed.
