Almost Midnight On C-Island Poem by Justin Gildow

Almost Midnight On C-Island

It's almost midnight on C-Island
The days here seem to be locked forever in the heat of summer
But I wouldn't want it any other way

In the night sky
Stars are joining the moon
A shooting star starts from one end of the sky and shoots across to the other side
And I can faintly make out the Southern Cross in the sky
Seeing it being surrounded by stars

It's almost midnight on C-Island
The bonfire which was burning hours ago has just about dissipated
And in these minutes right now
I can almost hear a faint but beautiful whistle in the night

Standing on the top end of the island
I listen to the waves
I gaze at the stars
And I think of many precious memories
Ones that were of you and me
Us and the sea
At another point in time
