Aklım Başıma Gelmedi

Aklım başıma gelmedi, aşk şarabın tatmayınca.
Ben kendimi bilemedim, gerçek ere yetmeyince.

Kendini bilmeyen kişi hiç erişir mi menzile?
Allah’a eremez kalır, er eteğin tutmayınca.

Eğer din îman gerekse, iyi diril bu dünyâda,
Yarın orda bitmez işin, bugün burda bitmeyince.

Bülbül dahi âşık güle, nazar Hak’tan olur kula,
Bir keleci gelmez dile, gönüllerde yanmayınca.

Gönüldeki bu razımı, sakınmaz derdim sözümü,
Âşık ne katlanır söze? Aşk metaın satmayınca.

Bîçâre Yûnus’un sözün, key âşık gerek anlaya,
O kuş dilidir, n’eylesin? Öğütlemez ötmeyince.

I'd rather call him "Star."
It's very mean of Science
To go and interfere!

I slew a worm the other day—
