It's funny how the mind
groups words and phrases into two
without applying thought you find
poetic interest it renews.

Too bad for English: words too few
to create a suitable rhyme
for longer poems, it's retinue
makes verse tough to refine.

So play with words, it's not a crime,
(and your vocab needn't be rich)
invest in writing enough time
you'll make something quite eldritch.

Perhaps you'll feel the writer's itch
and cr'ate the next epic journey,
or feel that competitive twitch:
Join a poet'c tourney.

Choose what you will, passion burning,
writing for cash or for reknown,
this you'll c'ntinually be learning:
the truth poems can show.
