Achieving Happiness Poem by Gautam Sen

Achieving Happiness

Happiness – the mind’s delight, is perpetual
while its purity is always essential,
but elements of some external connections
cause interruptions by undue interventions.
A quest within may help to reach the inner source
of fragrance of blossoms with very cheerful force.
Being at the foot of a plunging fountain’s roar
mind discovers the bliss of joy as life’s great lore.

All tempting thoughts that tamper the mind’s quietude,
disallow the resonance by prevalent feuds
of venomous distraction from achieving the goal –
a divine peace for an upliftment of a soul.
Keeping at bay from all the diversions that lure
lets earn the blessings for our loved life to endure;
be it an eternal song of joy to persist –
let glees prevail with the purity of a priest.

A composed mind with an armor of composure
never gets the heat out of outside exposure
that may delay the process of achieving peace –
a life eagerly eyes for this heavenly bliss.
Not an easy task to perceive this at ease,
focus must be on developing inner peace.
Happiness is to be earned at any good cost –
our mind to fill with it, let diversions be lost.

Once happiness coats its hue on a mind’s surface,
pronouncement comes through the glittering on a face –
like on the blade of a grass dewdrops have their shine,
its reflection from the soul makes you feel divine.
Once achieved this treasure of God’s heavenly care,
be in readiness for having others to share;
as the sun shares its light and the river its flow
the happiness brings to life an amazing glow.

Happiness is relative..it never can be achieved...though it can be felt to be tried and retried...
