Absence Multiplied Poem by Gautam Sen

Absence Multiplied

Your withdrawn existence is
Desolately felt once again today
With a renewed intensified grief
While explaining your absence.

Our pretty little daughter
Now got promoted to her next class
And got her admission.
You her mother have got to know
How I felt my heart broken and hurt.

My stifled voice led my head to nod as I was
Asked to fill Mother's Name in the admission form
Prefixing a tragic ''Late'' to your name -
Else it'd lie incomplete, so I had to comply.

So the school got the completed form
With all their formalities nicely done,
But how could I accomplish the vacant space
Lying in despair in my life's own format?

[ This is a poem written on April 12,2005 at the time of formalities being done by me while getting my daughter's admission to Secondary School. Her mother expired in October,2004 - just a few months back; so while filling her name as mother in the admission form, you can well imagine my sad feelings inside and that is what exactly written in the poem.]

Feelings since funeral could never be drenched with water to die down the fire...it is something never achieved thorugh religion and culture.Snapshots of such examples have become here your poetry.Manifests ur bond and love for the woman who departed untimely..Well done

Dear Poet Bereavement poem… it stuck me like hammock crushed my tiny head… I sincerely share your great loss … no consolation…as a wee fellow poet…sharing… and with all-in-all heart pray to Ramakrishna may she find eternal peace and solace... at the Lotus Feet and for your daughter my breastfed hugs and kisses and ….please convey her that she will find many Mom’s if she looks around.. At least me as her elder sister… Ms. Nivedita UK
