I feel at ease in its company
We are the greatest of companions
Who, to each other, have never spoken a word

Well, it is weird, but I like it anyway. Actually, I even find it cheerful and encouraging: I have grown to live its purring hum I feel at ease in its company I've always found aardvarks fascinating. Way back, when I once taught eighth graders, one class entitled their class magazine Adventures of a Purple Aardvark (purple because it was printed on an old Ditto machine. (You're probably too young even to know what this is.) Their writing - and their aardvark - touched my heart. Yours does, too. After all these years....
