Shark Teeth Poem by James Merchant

Shark Teeth

I am your favorite carnivore
These fireworks spell out my name
But you have to look deeply into the sky
To see what I really mean

I am your favorite carnivore
Your preferred antagonist
Your startling charming killjoy
The 'help' button within arm's length

Oh the wind wiring itself through our sleeves
Hungry for the sound of child's laughter
But there are no children here
They left to go searching for shark's teeth
