A Voice Poem by MARIE FRANCIS

A Voice

Rating: 5.0

I wish not to be a person
but a voice...

A voice, for those who've much to say~
A voice, for those who've nothing to claim!
A voice, for those whose hope is lost,
in the recognition of another*

A voice...

A voice, that cares...

A voice that's not ashamed
...or afraid to echo cries, aloud!

For, from soul to soul,
cries are heard...
...from mind to mind, words are sold!
Why?
...because, pride can be purchased for mere gold,
just for the sound of words...

I wish, not to be a person
...but a voice!

A voice, for those who have lost their choice*
A voice, for those whose guilt,
...corrupt their souls!
Leaving them in bonds,
that bear marks on their spirit*

I wish, not to be a person
...but a voice*

A voice, for many,
whose voices are lost in silence..
A voice, of a difference!

I wish, not to be a person,
But A VOICE! ! !

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Written in 2009 when I transitioned to a new department and felt overwhelmed by the people dynamics in that part of the organization. Outside of this work environment I was dealing with uncertainties in a relationship that was proximate.

Piece of elegance with rendition of words to utmost justice. Beautiful portrayal of the essence of the social crusade's duty as he/she strives to foster universal brotherhood of man. Thanks for sharing Maria.
