A Somber Valentine’s Day Poem by Hebert Logerie

A Somber Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is the celebration of flowers,
The affirmation of Love and relationships,
And the expression of best wishes and great desires;
Albeit it can be a time of tribulations and hardships,
When there is a death, a loss or an illness in the family.
That period can become incredibly sad and eery,
The tears of joy and laughter are absent
And inexistent.
The smiles are gone or erased,
The heart is unhappy and coerced,
There are no wandering birds in the sky,
Except the lazy clouds that are high,
Stationary, and frank,
Like a rusty tank.

I can relate to this Herbert, having lost my husband five months ago this is the first Valentine's Day without him. You are right, it is not a happy time for everyone. Well written poem.
