A Poetry Risk Assessment Poem by Daniel P Martin

A Poetry Risk Assessment

I became concerned, that I’d overlooked,
The matter of Health and Safety,
So I came to the conclusion, it was time to do,
A risk assessment of Poetry.

While writing my words, my pen could slip,
And stab me in the heart,
Or it could choke me or poison me with its ink,
Am I prepared to die for my art?

So maybe a pen is best avoided,
Though a computer could cause electrocution,
Or Repetitive Strain Injury could cripple me,
Or I could develop double vision.

Then again a paper-cut could sever a limb,
Or a bad review could upset me,
And so I’ve decided it’s far too dangerous,
And I’d better give up writing Poetry!

Haha, very nice. I think we have all lost ourselves in the 'what ifs? ' of life and potentially emotionally distressing incidents that could leave us dumber than we could ever imagine.
