A Place Of High Learning. Poem by Orlando Belo

A Place Of High Learning.

I am an extremely ambitious person,
but I suffer from my lack of literacy.
I'm also useless in other subjects,
and especially sociology.

So I was advised by a friend of my fathers
that I should attend further education.
This was so unlike me but I signed on,
but was filled with trepidation.

My tutor suggested a quieter environment,
somewhere out of the way, like up a tree.
So, I searched for a suitable solitary palm
and found one with peace and tranquillity.

I climbed the tree with great difficulty,
with my equipment in my rucksack.
I found a sturdy, comfortable, branch,
that had support for my back.

With my laptop balanced across my knees,
I was ready and willing to begin to study.
However, my studies ended before they began,
because of my laptop's drained battery.
