A Perfect Pair Poem by Randy McClave

A Perfect Pair

I don't ever smoke or chew
Tell me truthfully, do you?
You say that you don't drink or ever get high
Well then, neither do I.
I don't or won't ever lie or cheat
And I don't steal, or ever cause deceit,
You say that you don't break promises or abuse
And also, you don't ever judge or falsely accuse.
I don't ever seek sympathy or any form of pity
You can ask any person or church or committee,
But, I'm always the first to give anyone support
So, they can stay out of jail, or court.
You say that you are secure and financially stable
You stand alone as you are dependable and able,
And you always rely only on you
Then I will say this proudly, good for you.
You said that you were raised to be a helper and a fighter
And not a taker or an igniter,
I was raised the very same and proud way
And every night I was taught to pray.
I will not hate and I will also always forgive
I believe everyone has a right to live,
You say the very same thoughts you do feel
Well, happily I will say we are close in closing our deal.
I don't carry or have any extra baggage
I am just this one whole and complete package,
You say what I see is who you are
And you would make a happily forever memoir.
You say that you just want to be loved and needed
And always standing with and never preceded,
I too just want to be needed for my love and care
I will say this, we will make a perfect pair.
