A New Flower Poem by Savita Tyagi

A New Flower

Upon the grave of the old
A new flower blooms.
Sadly it never knew the
Loving nurturing hands of a Gardner.

The Gardner sleeping in the grave
Left the plant alone.
Yet it blooms to add its beauty to the old grave.

The rising sun gave it warmth,
The rain nourished the plant,
And the protective wind kept it in her watch.

Fighting against all odds of life
With her nature given might
Thetiny flower blooms
Upon the grave of the old.

Now it wishes to be plucked
To be part of a bouquet.
Or is it his fate to wither alone?
To be perished upon the grave of the old!

A lovely tribute to children who were left alone to survive. Now it wishes to be plucked To be part of a bouquet. Let someone make it part of a lovely arrangement. Or is it his fate to wither alone? To be perished upon the grave of the old! Will it live and die alone or will its wishes be fulfilled to be a part of bouquet. Concluding lines quite interesting.

The Gardner sleeping in the grave Left the plant alone.................having reread the poem and read your Poet's Notes [thanks], i now see the tie in, between a family lost through war and a child left an orphan and perhaps homeless. i tend to take wording literally, not symbolically, so the thought had not occurred to me before i read the Poet's Notes. to MyPoemList and eventually i plan to place it into my/our April 2017 showcase for PH poets. Thanks. bri :) favorite stanza: Now it wishes to be plucked To be part of a bouquet. Let someone make it part of a lovely arrangement. Or is it his fate to wither alone? To be perished upon the grave of the old!

Thanks Bri. Appreciate your comment very much. When the image of a Flower upon the grave appeared suddenly in my mind I didn't know why but as I wrote the poem I was able to connect to it. Glad that you liked it.
