A New Direction Poem by Paula Glynn

A New Direction

A Long-Term Durable Education

A 30-year-old streetwise woman
An utterly gorgeous and smart
Hard working and responsible woman
A woman who has worked hard throughout her youth
For her durable education
Going from happy Primary school
To important Secondary school
Always the popular one of the class:
Every busy student her good friend.

Learning her spoken and written English:
Her grammar and punctuation
Her spellings and expressive writing
Learning to read children's books in Primary School
Learning to write essays in Secondary School
Going onto studying English at A-Level
Passing every exam with flying colours
Graduating to university for four years
Satisfying a quest for knowledge.

Graduating University with an English degree
She knows how to write and deeply express herself
She knows the ins and outs of famous stories:
Such as Wuthering Heights, Emma
Pride and Prejudice and the Bloody Chamber
A short story collection by Angela Carter
Also having written short stories herself
And even an unusual novella inspired by the supernatural
Taking her lessons into entertaining the public via the Internet.

Excelling in mathematics and science
Being a highly intelligent and innovative woman
Not afraid of those complex exams
That require high minded skills and incredible creativity
Also excelling in computing: her technical gifts
Making computing a walk in the sunny park
Making working in the office easier and productive
Now a 30-year-old woman a highly qualified office worker
Also making many good friends on the job.

Love & Romance

Being a promising young woman in her 20's
She forever lives a flamboyant life
Having a life in rich London to live
Going to public houses for lunch with friends
On every sunny Saturday afternoon
And going out for meals at restaurants at night-time
Those neon light night clubs also appealing
There first meeting the love of her life:
A man named Frederick, a gorgeous male specimen.

She greets him with a friendly smile
And the offer of an alcoholic drink
Because he lights her fire
He makes her body feel intense desire
Her personal poetry he does inspire
Glad he is single she makes her move
And it is too good to be true:
But it is true and he also desires her
Her beautiful face and sexy body he does prefer.

Getting married a few years later
They are soulmates and have a strong bond
No other man to sing their lover's song
For with Frederick she has not gone wrong
His intoxicating Italian looks appeal
His tall and slim build attract desire
From many other attractive women
But it is her he does prefer
For she is genuine and true to her nature.

They are a perfect match
Yet - as the famous song goes - opposites do attract
Their chemistry in its entirety unbidden
Its desire unknown to others
Their attraction growing stronger with time
They to seldom fight or get angry
As they turn out the bedroom light
And together they spend the night
Their bond unshakable and superglue tight.
