A New Day Poem by Suzanne LeslieBailey

A New Day

My eyelids lift after a restful night
Fluttering to combat the sunlight shining bright
My eardrums pulsate and beat
To the chirps of birds as they meet and greet

Mmmm, the perfumed fragrance of flowers in bloom
Drift lazily through the window
Wrapping itself around my room
I can almost taste the floral nectar...oh so sweet
These sights, sounds and smells beckoning me
To leave the silky feel of my sheet

I leap from my warm, cozy bed
In eager anticipation of the new day ahead
With legs and faith so strong
Firm in the knowledge that nothing will end up wrong
As any challenge is simply a test
Meant to strengthen and bring out my best

After I’ve knelt on my knees to pray
I rise with confidence and loudly say
Bring it on new day
Go ahead and make my day!
