A Little Piece Of Heaven Poem by Taylor Fong

A Little Piece Of Heaven

And just for a while, I can escape reality…

Hold the piece of heaven to my mouth.
Click the lighter.
Singe the edge.
Inhale deep.
Hold it in.
Let it burn.
Burn all my troubles away.
Every worry, every weight on my trouble, every thought.
Exhale slowly, letting out the warm smoke, letting out the stress from inside of me.
Take a few more hits, finish off that piece of heaven, and let every weight on my shoulder fly away.
My mind is clear.
My shoulders are light.
My worries are gone.
My body’s at ease.
The stress is lifted.
Don’t need to think, just need to relax.
Relax while I’m still at peace.
While time slows down.
While the earth stops spinning.
While I have time to rest my heart and mind from this manic world.
Where everything that’s right goes wrong, when nothing felt right in the first place.
Where everything is so fast paced, it’s insane trying to keep your sanity.

And with this little piece of heaven,
I can escape this psychotic world
Until I fade back into reality.
