A Desert Poem by Ria Varghese

A Desert

A silent and barren land,
Filled with sand and only sand.
A hot dry land with scorching heat,
Makes the sand burn which may burn your feet.
And because of the scorching heat, many people perish,
Because there's no water nor a single fish.
In this desert you may get lost,
And die with heat, but not with frost.
It may feel like you're walking on fire,
And the uncontrollable heat will make you perspire.
In the night you shiver with the extreme cold climate,
And sit on the sand lying in wait
For the time to come closer,
When you'll be away from this desert, without any fear.
So in the same way, if you do
Something bad to someone, they'll leave you
To the dark side of your life,
And when no one comes to you, you'll be in strife.
So, do not try to make your life a desert,
Or if it becomes, your life will be in discomfort.
