A Day Or Two Poem by Poetry Falcon

A Day Or Two

I saw you today
There was no way to avoid you
I thought about calling in sick
But I knew it would be too obvious
That you inadvertently broke my spirit

As luck would have it
Next day I was asked to relieve you
I walked in and saw a familiar face
Your beautiful face
Never been so intrigued by a lover's looks before

I don't know what it is about you
It just melts my heart
The way your deep, sad eyes rest upon your cheek bones
And those lips so perfectly sculpted
Home to that succulent pout

At least I prepared myself for the inevitable
Late to work, rolled some paper
Just to make sure I didn't make a fool of myself
Tried to numb the pain and humiliation
Of seeing you two days in a row in compromising situations
